Year Of The Spider...

Spider-Man's life has literally become a tangled web to follow in the eyes of fans around the world. Through the years, he's been subjected to retcons, clone sagas, and demonic interferences that completely turned readers worlds upside down, shying most away from the book and making them prefer to remember the good times from days past. I happen to be one of the few still lingering around the webslinger's corner, and despite having been "deeply affected" by the events of One More Day, I have recently returned to my Spider-patronage by resuming my collection of the flagship title - The Amazing Spider-Man. Yes, Peter Parker is still single and unmarried thanks to the machinations of Mephisto, but his wily, arrogant, and cocky superhero self is still retained, and the storytelling by a handful of writers three times a month isn't so bad when you get used to it. Throughout 2008-2009, I've seen Spidey and his supporting cast undergo subtle yet major changes in their lives - The Daily Bugle has been sold/ destroyed, Aunt May is married to J. Jonah Jameson Sr., and JJ himself is the mayor of New York City... lots to take in, I know. Right now, Pete's undergoing major challenges in his life, particularly a stream of fights from his classic rogues gallery which is depicted in the major Spidey story arc, "The Gauntlet". Also, the writers have brought back elements of The Clone Saga to continuity, so with 2010 here, what else can we expect to see in Pete's life? Well, Marvel.com has a pic to clue in all of us, and it looks something like this...

That says it all... An even more complicated web is coming!
