SDCC '12: The Walking Dead Season 3 trailer and international release date info


Shambling its way to the San Diego Comic-Con with a herd of creators, panelists, and loyal hungry fans excited, the people behind AMC and Robert Kirkman's highly successful zombie series "The Walking Dead" have debuted the much anticipated "Season 3 Trailer", teasing what's to come in what will be surely an intense and jaw-dropping 16-episode run that begins fall of this year! Check out what Rick Grimes and his group have in store this October, and see the debut of new faces and the return of some old ones as well!

Looks exciting alright, though there are some noticeable changes with the looks of certain characters, particularly Hershel and Carl (longer hair and age differences noticeable).

In related news, Fox International Channel has also announced that Season 3 of The Walking Dead will premiere at THE SAME DAY as the US premiere, with a few short hours difference. FIC has released an official statement to reflect this:

Season Three of the Hit Series Premiering in FOX International Channels (FIC) 120+ Markets the Week of October 15th


San Diego– July 13, 2012 –FOX International Channels (FIC) today announced the international premiere of Season 3 of “The Walking Dead.” The series will begin its international rollout on Monday, October 15th, reaching FIC audiences in 122 countries, speaking 36 languages and will be seen by over 200 million internationally. As with past seasons, FIC is executing a global, simultaneous premiere of the show, rolling the series out to audiences in its markets within a few hours of the American debut on AMC Sunday, October 14th.


Markets include: Australia, UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Turkey, the Balkans, the Baltic, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, all Latin America, all Middle East, Japan, Korea,Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Sub-Saharan Africa.


“Season two of “The Walking Dead” marked the best performance for a US cable show in our international markets. It delivered record-breaking ratings in both the US and internationally”, said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming at FIC. “We are committed to ensuring the best viewing experience for these clearly committed fans. We think the global launch strategy is a key part of this series’ international success, and are excited to be working so closely with our partners at AMC on blowing it out of the park again this year.”


Earlier today, FIC released “The Walking Dead” third season trailer to the international community with a message about the global launch. The trailer will be available on http://thewalkingdead.foxinternationalchannels.com/. 


The series’ third season will consist of 16 episodes. Season three of “The Walking Dead” will air in two-parts with the first eight hours kicking off October 15th internationally and returning in February, 2013 with the final eight episodes. 


The Walking Dead is AMC’s first wholly-owned original series. FIC owns all international rights for the project, in all international markets outside of North America. eOne handles Broadcast TV rights and Digital/DVD rights in all markets."
