Transformers: Age of Extinction: Galvatron confirmed for the film thanks to New York Toy Fair 2014 line

If you've been following updates and seen the short but revealing first teaser trailer spot from this year's Super Bowl, the next Transformers film by Michael Bay from Hasbro and Paramount Pictures looks to raise the stakes even higher with more evil threatening Optimus Prime, his Autobots, and the rest of humanity in the upcoming new TF film "Transformers: Age of Extinction". While it's indeed confirmed that new Transformers will appear like the Dinobot Grimlock, there's been no word on who else is coming... But if you've closely observed the spot, there are clues... And now a post from TFormers has all but confirmed the presence of a well-known Decepticon leader for the film universe... The debut of the mighty Galvatron! He'll be a Semi-Trailer according to the report, and one has to wonder how he'll look like... Once pics come from the New York Toy Fair 2014 itself.

SPOILERS may follow if you're not familiar with Transformers lore (especially Generation 1), but here's an analysis and retrospective for those who don't know who the Big G is...

Transformers Unicron meets Megatron and his transformation into Galvatron

Originally voiced by Star Trek legend and Spock actor Leonard Nimoy in Transformers: The Movie and later actor Frank Welker in Season 3 of the G1 animated series, Galvatron was essentially a reformatted Megatron, given a new body by his new lord, the planet eating chaos bringer known as Unicron. After his master was destroyed by Rodimus Prime and The Matrix of Leadership, Galvatron was thrown into the ravages of space, but ended up being rescued by his men Cyclonus and Scourge, whole but prone to insanity and temper. Despite this he still proved to be a fearful and respected leader, and led his Decepticons on the ongoing war against the Autobots.

Throughout the Transformers franchise and the multiverse in general, Galvatron has always been revived in some form or way, as an upgrade to Megatron or a separate being who nonetheless commanded fear and respect either way. Now with Megatron dead (again) in Michael Bay's Transformers movies after Transformers: Dark of the Moon, could this "Galvatron" be yet another attempt at resurrection... Or something else altogether? We'll just have to wait and see. For more information, visit the source post at TFormers.com.

Transformers: Age of Extinction sees release in theaters on June 27, 2014.
