DC Comics announces "Doomsday Clock" for November

With The Batman/ Flash crossover storyline "The Button" ending this week, DC Comics drops another bombshell announcement on their official website that furthers the big DC Rebirth/ Watchmen mystery - Geoff Johns is making his triumphant return to writing and will be teaming up with Gary Frank and Brad Anderson for a new event story called "Doomsday Clock" which hits comic book shops this fall.

“It's time. Last year, the DC Universe confronted the legacy of Watchmen in Rebirth the way Watchmen confronted the legacy of superhero comics three decades ago,” explains writer Geoff Johns. “Thematically, and metaphorically, there was no better choice than to use Dr. Manhattan. If you’re going to have a conflict between optimism and pessimism, a battle between the very forces of hope and despair, you need to have someone who personifies the cynicism that has leaked into our hearts and also has the ability to affect the entire DCU. It’s all paying off this November with DOOMSDAY CLOCK.”

With the Superman logo in the middle of a clock that nears midnight, the title "Doomsday Clock" has double meaning as Doomsday was the creature that killed Supes and the clock itself featured prominently in Watchmen. The story of course will be different, but only Johns and crew know exactly how things will play and where this takes readers next as DC Rebirth continues.

DC's "Doomsday Clock" will be released on November.
